CSK vs MI Match Preview
The El-Classico of IPL is again back and there is a chance of another one in Finals. Both the teams have looked like winning this year. While one side there is Mumbai Indians who is well balanced and winning matches by collective team efforts and then there is CSK who have won most of their matches by individual brilliance and some great bowling by South-African Leggie Imran Tahir. Tahir and MSD have been only two guys who have been consistent this season for CSK and return in form of their most prolific batsman Suresh Raina will be also welcomed with both hands by team management.
Dhoni and CSK know how Mumbai Indians have beaten Super Kings not once but twice this season. In fact, Mumbai has toppled Super Kings six times in their last seven matches against them. In 2013, Super Kings were beaten in the final. In 2015, they lost three of their four exchanges to Mumbai. Yet, ahead of the qualifier 1 on Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Mumbai wouldn’t mind being a fly on the wall, inside that ice-cool Super Kings camp that is driven by instinct and game-smart.
Super Kings’ weakest suit this season has been their batting, which has been camouflaged to a large extent thanks to MS Dhoni’s form and nous. Mumbai’s own batting hasn’t consistently fired as a unit, but Hardik Pandya has been unstoppable in the middle, and one or the other of the top order has generally got runs. Rohit Sharma has begun to find his groove in the second half of the season too, and he’s the kind of batsman that can transcend the pitch and conditions, and get runs even if Super Kings offer up a turner.
Suryakumar Yadav – MI’s No.3 this season – has scored a series of promising 20s, but has failed to consolidate further. MI has also had uncertainty at No.4, leaving Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard to do a sweep up job at the death. Hardik’s potency this season has saved MI in many-a-fixture, but Mumbai could do with a better batting foundation from the top-order in such a crucial game.
